With the following links you may download the complete Randolph Glacier
Inventory 3.2 or regional subsets. Data are occasionally updated by
region, so the date of last update is shown for each region. We recommend
that users keep a record of the date they downloaded data.
MD5 checksums are provided for
each file as a way to check the integrity of the file after download or
media migration. They are only used to make sure a file didn't get
corrupted, and are not needed to process or view the data.
The Randolph Glacier Inventory, a global inventory of glacier
outlines, is made available under certain transitional usage constraints.
It is intended for the estimation of total ice volumes and glacier mass
changes at global and large-regional scales. It is supplemental to the
Global Land Ice Measurements from Space initiative (GLIMS). Production of
the RGI was motivated by the forthcoming Fifth Assessment Report of the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR5) and is being released
initially with little documentation in view of the IPCC's tight deadlines.
Updates beyond the IPCC deadlines will take the form of
additions to the GLIMS Glacier Database. As resources allow, all these
data will be incorporated into the GLIMS Glacier Database.
For purposes other than those described above, use of RGI should be cleared
with the contributors of the outlines. Please do not distribute RGI. If you
know of other potential users, encourage them to register at this web site.
